Early morning musings

  • Mood:
  • Music: Bring on the Rain ~ Jo Dee Messina

Got up this morning to let Molly out to go potty and sat down to scan channels on the t.v. 'til she asked to come back in. I came across a video channel actually playing videos. I about had a heart attack.

The song that came on was one that had been a favorite of mine since it was released but one I had forgotten about. Rediscovering music is a wonderful thing, it's like running into a dear friend you've not seen in years.

This particular song is one that teachs that without the lows throughout our lives we cannot appreciate all the highs that comes our way. Without the down, how would you know what up is?

I adore the way Jo Dee and Tim harmonize together, their voices blend so perfectly. The melody is beautiful and the lyrics serve to remind me that sometimes the lows aren't such a bad thing after all.

JO DEE MESSINA
Bring On The Rain (Jo Dee Messina with Tim McGraw)
(Billy Montana/Helen Darling)

Another day has almost come and gone
Can’t imagine what else could go wrong
Sometimes I’d like to hide away somewhere and lock the door
A single battle lost but not the war (‘cause)

Tomorrow’s another day
And I’m thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

It’s almost like the hard times circle ‘round
A couple drops and they all start coming down
Yeah, I might feel defeated,
I might hang my head
I might be barely breathing - but I’m not dead

Tomorrow’s another day
And I’m thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

I’m not gonna let it get me down
I’m not gonna cry
And I’m not gonna lose any sleep tonight

Tomorrow's another day
And I am not afraid
So bring on the rain
.
